Northcote, a perfect inner city location in Melbourne, 7km north east from Melbourne’s central business district. This is a great area not far from the city with a diverse area population, Northcote has a mix of ethnic and working class communities making it a good place for a wide range of people. Easily accessible to the city with two train-lines going through Northcote, a tram line and several bus lines
There are plenty of shops and places to eat out close by and with good variety. If you want to get out for a drink then there are a few places close by, but plenty a bit further a field in neighbouring Brunswick and Fitzroy. High Street is the main shopping strip, with a great mixture of chilled out bars and restaurants, music venues and galleries. There is a nice pocket in the south east of Northcote, which borders Fairfield and Alphington. Another activity centre is Station Street and it is close to the Fairfield boat house, river and parkland.
The local All nations Park provides facilities for just about anything you could want at your local park including, skating, basketball and tennis. There are also playground for the younger kids and plenty of open spaces to run. Northcote has a mix of ethnic and working class communities mainly of first and second generation Greek and Italian migrants, Northcote also has one of Melbourne's largest Lesbian communities.
